Vitamin D is a vitamin that occurs in very little foods and is created in the skin upon contact with UV rays from the sun. But it just so happens that many of the foods that contain vitamin D are also used in making sushi such as tuna, mackerel, salmon, sardines, and whale blubber. For those who swap out dried seaweed for spinach, you’re also adding vitamin D to your meal. For those interested, there is a whole site on how to get the most vitamin D out of your foods, called Vitamin D Foods. It has lists of what foods contain vitamin D and how much and gives background information on how its made in the body and how it’s used. It also talks about how supplements work and which ones are best. And by the way, if you like sushi, check out Sushi Share. Here’s to eating healthy and treating foods as medicine.
Do you ever have the desire to exercise, but feel worn out when you get home from work? What if you could exercise while you’re at work?
A new web site called Desk Exercisers has highlighted several different types of desk exercise equipment that actually fits under your desk that allow you to exercise while at work. According to the web site, “The most popular type of desk exercising is pedaling under the desk, of which there are many different pedal exercisers. For a more relaxing way to burn extra calories while at work, try the balance balls, which use more muscles to sit in than normal office chairs. And if your company will let you get away with it there are full-fledged treadmill desks to keep you moving while at your desk.”
If you’re struggling to lose weight and could use just some of the 8 hours you spend at your desk to exercise, then maybe this approach is for you.
